FINAL RESULTS
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lee University women's track & field team scored 147.5 points on the final day of competition to pull away from the field and win their seventh consecutive Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship. The Lady Flames claimed six individual championships on Friday and finished with 239.5 points. UAH placed second with 176.16 points and Mississippi College was third with 114.5 points.
As a result of their performances over the two days of competition, Liz Lannom was named the Most Outstanding Overall Performer and Aria Hawkins was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer.
During the final day of competition, Hawkins claimed three individual championships and Lannom added two more. Hawkins won the mile, the 800-meter run and the 3000-meter run. Lannom was the event champion in the 60-meter hurdles and the 60-meter dash.
Samara Brinks started the day with a first place finish in the weight throw with a measurement of 17.62 meters. Gracie Waite placed sixth with a toss of 15.45 meters.
Aubrey Anderson was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.41 meters. Jydia Faucette covered 11.09 meters for fifth place. Marisa Hennix landed at 10.73 meters for eighth place and Brooke Jones was ninth with a mark of 10.56 meters.
Lannom and Jones competed in the high jump. Lannom cleared 1.55 meters to tie for fourth place. Jones went over 1.50 meters for 11
th place.
Hawkins opened the track events with a first-place finish in the mile. She crossed the finish line at 4:51.33. Katie Beam was third (5:01.01) with Lucy Guthrie (5:09.49) in fifth and Abi Moore in seventh (5:14.61).
The Lady Flames placed three runners in the top eight of the 400-meter final. Maddox Mayfield placed second with a time of 54.74 seconds. Addison Bleisath was fifth (58.45), Annika Barrett finished eighth (59.53) and Amelia Wedemeyer (59.85) placed 10
th.
In the 60 hurdles, Lannom was first across the line at 8.40 seconds. Hennix placed fifth (9.38), Lily Brown was sixth (9.42) and Barrett finished seventh (9.74).
Lannom also claimed the championship in the 60 with a time of 7.50 seconds. Mayfield added another team point with an eighth-place time of 8.10 seconds. Lannom and Mayfield also finished in the top eight of the 200-meter dash. Lannom (24.39) placed second and Mayfield was eighth (26.59).
Five Lady Flames finished in the top 15 of the 800 with Hawkins claiming the top spot at 2:12.14. Kaylen Owen placed third at 2:13.98 and Beam was fourth (2:16.63). Guthrie grabbed 10
th position with a time of 2:23.05 and Moore was 15
th (2:31.24).
Hawkins claimed her final individual championship of the day following a time of 9:47.55 in the 3000. Ava Sparks placed fourth (10:01.61) with Capucine Cureau right behind in fifth (10:01.75). Sadie Wielfaert was 10
th (10:24.66) and Sawyer Simmons finished 11
th (10:29.36).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Barrett, Owen, Faucette and Bleisath finalized the team standings with a third-place time of 3:59.60.
