CLEVELAND, Tenn. – It was a tough second quarter for the Lee University women's lacrosse team as Young Harris College outscored them 6-0 in the second period and the Mountain Lions never looked back. YHC defeated the Lady Flames 12-6 on a chilly and damp evening at the Ray Conn Sports Complex. Lee dropped their second straight game and fell to 2-4 on the year while Young Harris improved to 2-1. Lee will host Southern Wesleyan University on Friday at 5 PM.
It was a low scoring first 15 minutes as each team just had one goal. Emma Bailey scored the opening goal at the 1:38 mark in the quarter. YHC outscored Lee 6-0 in the second and led 7-1 at halftime.
The Mountain Lions scored the first two goals of the third quarter and led it 9-1. Noelle Harrington scored the second goal for Lee a player down. After three more YHC goals, Lanie Carrol scored for Lee to make it a 12-3 deficit. Harrington, Carroll, and Tomczik each scored a goal in the fourth quarter and shutout Young Harris in that period, but it was too little too late as Lee lost 12-6.
YHC outshot the Lady Flames 40-26 in the contest and lee had 28 turnovers to just 19 for YHC.
Harrington and Carroll each had two goals for Lee. Harrington reached 100 career points on the night. In goal for Lee, Savannah Weisman made 19 saves in the loss.
