PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Lee University men's golf finished the regular season on a strong note with a second-place finish at the Argonaut Invitational on Tuesday. The Flames shot an 842 over the three rounds to finish just three strokes behind host and winner the University of West Florida. Drew Zielinski led the way for the Flames coming in tied for second place.
Zielinski shot a 206 over the three rounds to finish tied for second with Cooper Tendick from UWF. Zielinski had a 71-66-68 for a ten under par and had the best average on the par 4's for the week with a 3.83.
Sacha Corlouer from Georgia Southwestern University won the individual title shooting one stroke better at 205.
Freshman Tucker Wick came in tied for ninth with a 210. He shot a 66-74-70 to finish six under par. Bennett McNabb was tied for 19
th with a 215 (73-72-70).
George Cordall came in tied for 23
rd with a 76-72-68 for a 216. Billy Boroughs was tied for 38
th in the tournament. He shot a 71-74-75 over the three rounds. Noah Farland competed as an independent and came in tied for 60
th. He shot a 72-80-73 over the three rounds.
UWF as a team shot -25 with an 839 to win the tournament. St. Mary's University (TX) came in third with an 848. Florida Southern College was tied as well for third with an 848. Wingate University rounded out the top five with an 853 score.
The Flames will now prepare for the Gulf South Conference tournament in Dickson, Tenn. on April 20-22.
