McNabb, Cordall Lead Lee Golfers in NCAA National

BOULDER CITY, NV – With Bennett McNabb and George Cordall leading the way, the Lee golf team placed fourth (846) after 54-holes in the NCAA DII Men's National Championship being played at the Boulder Creek Golf Course and will face Georgia Southwestern in the opening round of match play on Thursday.

McNabb fired a 5-under 67 on Wednesday. His round included six birdies and only one bogey. He opened tourney play with a 68, came back with a 71 and finished with his 67 for a 10-under 206 total and a tie for fourth place. Cordall was right behind with a 66-72 and a final round 69 for his 9-under 207 and a tie for eighth place. Cordall finished with five birdies and a pair of bogeys.

Drew Zielinski was solid from start to finish. His 2-under 70 included an eagle at No. 5, a bogey at No. 12, and a birdie at No. 13. Over the 54 holes he finished with a 73-68-70 – 213. Billy Boroughs posted the final score that counted on Wednesday (73). All totaled, he had a 76-75-73 – 224. Tucker Wick came in with a 72-76-77 – 225.

Octavio Laurent of USC Beaufort, playing as an individual, earned the medalist honors when he fired an amazing 9-under par 63 on Wednesday and posted a 17-under 199 total.
Florida Southern walked away with the team honors (829) while Missouri-St. Louis was second at 837. Wingate finished strong on Wednesday and placed third (839), Lee was fourth (846), followed by Georgia Southwestern (847) that rounded the top five.

"Alwyas going to be a stressful day espeically at a tournament with a lot of birdies out there.Everyone behind us was pushing all day and we took advantage of the par 5's."
