CLEVELAND, Tenn. - A Lee University national champion has her own special day in Cleveland! Aria Hawkins was recognized by Cleveland Mayor Kevin Brooks and the Cleveland City Council for the NCAA DII Indoor National Champion in the 3000 Meter.

The track star was honored in a special ceremony prior to Monday's City Council Meeting, hailing Monday, April 13, 2026, as "Aria Hawkins Day" in Cleveland, Tenn. in recognition for her NCAA D2 National Championship victory on March 15, 2026.

"I'm incredibly honored and grateful to the city of Cleveland for this recognition," said Hawkins. "None of this happens without my coaches, teammates, family, and the support of this community. I give all glory to God for every opportunity and accomplishment, and I'm proud to represent Lee University every time I step on the track."

Head Track and Field Coach Caleb Morgan is very proud of what Hawkins has accomplished. "This recognition is a reflection of who Aria is every single day—an exceptional athlete, an outstanding student, and an even better person. What she has accomplished on the national stage is remarkable, but what makes her truly special is the consistency, humility, and leadership she brings to our team and our community. We are incredibly proud of her and grateful for the way she represents Lee University and the city of Cleveland."

Hawkins will look to compete for another national title in May. She will compete in the Gulf South Conference Championships April 30-May 2 in Montevallo, Ala. and then will run at the NCAA Championships in outdoor track and field in Emporia, Kan. on May 21-23.
