Lady Flames Lacrosse Season Comes To An End At The GSC Semifinals

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –The season ended for the Lee University lacrosse team in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference championship on Friday. The Lady Flames led Flagler College 3-2 early, before the Saints rattled off 17 straights goals on the way to a 23-5 victory. Lee's season came to an end with a 6-12 record while Flagler improved to 18-0.
 
Flagler came out of the gates and scored back-to-back goals in the first four minutes. The Lady Flames answered with three straight goals. Kylee Kangas scored first on a quick transition. Then Kamille Kremkau and Lily Tomczik scored on back-to-back free positions shots. 
 
Flagler then rolled off four straight goals to lead 6-3 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was all the Saints as they outscored Lee 7-0 to lead it 13-3 at halftime. They scored six more goals before Kremkau scored for Lee with 0:48 left on the clock in the third quarter.
 
In the fourth, Flagler found the back of the net four more times while Lee's Taylor McGovern scored a man down goal for the final score of 23-5.
 
Flagler outshot Lee 45-18 in the contest. The two goalkeepers for Flagler made two saves. In three quarters in net for Lee, Savannah Weisman made 11 saves. Sydney Mayo in the final period played in goal and did not have a save. 
 
Coach Megan Smith's Thoughts:
 
"Our team was small this year, but they worked so hard. We improved so much from the first time we played them.  Savannah was solid in goal, while Kamille and Lily worked super hard. It was a total team effort and proud of them today."
