CLEVELAND, Tenn. –The Lee University softball team ended the season on a high note with a 9-1 win over Delta State University. The Lady Flames took two of three games from the Lady Statemen and ended the season with a 21-34 record and a 12-21 GSC mark. After the game, Lee honored four seniors; Nat Toups, Hayden Gardner, Abigail Welbaum, and Hailey Simco.
The scoring didn't start until the bottom of the third. With two outs, Katie Hastings singled and then stole second base. She was brought home by Sadie Winsett on a double to make it 1-0 in favor of Lee.
The Lady Flames added four runs in the fourth. Addi Lewis singled to start. Then Hailey Simco doubled to get two on base. Addi Emmerson followed that up with a single two drive in two RBI. After a Nat Toups single, Hastings drove in both Toups and Emmerson but was thrown out trying to go to third.
DSU got their lone run in the sixth. Carly Dunigan singled and then Calli McConnell doubled to score Dunigan. Lee ended the game in the sixth. Taryn Gibbs reached on an error to start the inning. Madison Pinzon then singled. Kaylee Wilson also singled to lead the bases. Emmerson then ended the game with a grand slam home run.
Emmerson ended the day with two hits and six RBI. Histings also had two hits and two RBI. Lee had ten hits to just four for DSU.
Kaylee Underwood threw five and one third innings and gave up one run on four hits. Ella Baker threw two-thirds of an inning in relief.
