Women's Golf Takes Fourth At Opening Tournament

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – In the opening tournament of the year, the Lee University women's golf team finished in fourth place at the City With Spirit Classic at the Cleveland Country Club. Justine Emond was the top finisher for the Flames as she tied for second place
 
Lee shot a 904 over the three rounds for a final tally of 904. In the first round they shot a 30. That was followed by a 304 in round two. Their best round was the final round which was a 299.
 
Lincoln Memorial University was the winner shooting an 875 over the three rounds. The University of North Georgia was 17 shots back with an 892. Columbus State University was third with a 902. Lee tied Lander University with a 904.
 
Sarah Reed of Lander was the medalist. She shot a 213 (73-70-70). Emond for Lee was three shots back with a 216 (70-72-74).
 
Lehane Louis-Dumond came in tied for 16th for Lee. She had a 226 (77-75-74). Jackie Knight finished tied for 26th with a 229 (76-79-74). Olivia Ireland was 233 with a 78-78-77. Keira Deland came in 68th with a 241 (79-83-79). Kariann Campbell finished in 88th with a 264 (85-89-90).
Lee will go to the Savannah Lakes Fall Invitational on September 21.
 
Coach Geandra Almeida's Thoughts: 
"We had moments and also moments we need to learn from. I am proud of this group. It was hot but we have been practicing in it. We never gave up and are willing to get better."
