MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Lee University men's soccer team's road struggles continued Saturday night with a 1-0 loss at University of Montevallo. The Flames are now 4-2-2 overall with a 1-2 record in the GSC but are just 1-2-2 (0-2 GSC) in games played away from home.
Montevallo (1-2-3, 1-0-2 GSC) struck in the 20
th minute as Luis Billep sent a long pass over the top to Joaquin Wladdimiro who then slipped the ball past Lee's goalkeeper.
The Flames put six of their eight shots on goal, while the Falcons took seven shots with six on goal, including the match's lone score. Lee's Charles Carriglitto (4-2-2) recorded five saves and Andre Etcheverry (1-2-3) turned aside six shots for the shutout.
In the physical match, Lee was whistled for 14 fouls and picked up one yellow card. Montevallo received two cautions with 12 fouls assessed.
The Flames will remain on the road for their next outing on Wednesday, September 23, at Trevecca Nazarene University. The GSC battle is scheduled for 5 p.m. EDT in Nashville, Tennessee.
