Coach Saez begins his fifth season on coach Brew’s staff and his fourth season directing the Lee hitters.
Saez played for the Flames in 2012 and helped Lee post a 56-11-1 record and reach the Final 4 in the NAIA World Series. The Flames were the NAIA Opening Round Champions, the SSAC Tournament Champions and SSAC Regular Season Runner-Up. Jorge was 2012 SSAC Academic All-Conference. He was the 2012 SSAC Tournament MVP. He finished the season with a .303 batting average, 13 doubles, six homeruns and 42 RBI.
Jorge walked away from his college playing days after being drafted in the 32nd-round by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012. He won the community service award for his minor league teams in 2015 and 2019 and was a rule-5 pick by the New York Yankees in Dec. 2016, spending time at big league spring training camps with the Yankees. He had an eight-year minor league career between the Blue Jays and Yankees organizations and was known for his shut-down ability as a catcher.
After his professional career, Saez returned to Lee in the spring of 2020 and completed his degree in Business Finance in the spring of 2021. Saez assisted in rebuilding a Lee offense that was depleted by graduation in 2021. In his fifth season as Lee’s top assistant, Jorge received his Master of Business Admission on July 27, 2024.
As the Flames’ hitting coach during the 2022 season, Lee led the GSC in hits and was second in triples, third in homeruns, and fifth in doubles. The offense performed in the most important moments averaging an amazing 8.4 runs throughout the GSC and NCAA South Regional Tournaments.
In 2023, the Flames once again sat on top of the GSC offensively, posting the most homeruns (82), fourth in doubles, third in triples, and finished second in stolen bases. He tutored a young Malachi Cloud into an All-GSC and All-Region season as a freshman. Riley Black also claimed second- team All-GSC under Coach Saez.
Coach Brew noted, “Jorge has done a tremendous job leading our recruiting efforts. That is a monumental task in today’s era of recruiting. Additionally, he has created one of the most consistent offenses in the GSC over his four seasons as our hitting coach and our catchers continue to improve under his direction. I am honored to have him on staff and looking forward to a resurgence on offense in 2026.”
