Stephen Carter enters his second season as the Lee men's basketball Graduate Assistant Coach for the 2023-24 season.
Carter helped guide the Flames to a 20-8 record and a trip to the NCAA National Tournament last season.
Carter graduated from Lee with a degree in Business Management in May of 2021. While a student Carter served as a manager for the Flames and was part of the 2020-21 team that won the program's first NCAA Tournament game.
From there he went to work at St. John's University in Queens, N.Y. as a Graduate Assistant in the Athletic Department during the 2021-22 season. Carter traveled with the men's and women's basketball teams and handled ticketing as well communication with many NBA Players and General Managers. He worked home games at iconic Madison Square Garden and also oversaw worked the 2022 Big East Swimming and Diving Championship.
Previous coaching stops included coaching alongside his high school at Page High School in 2019, skills camps in Franklin, Tenn. during the summers of 2020 and 2021 and Independence High School Summer Basketball this past year.
Carter has a rich basketball bloodline. He is the grandson of Chattanooga standout and UTC basketball star and NBA prospect, Charlie Carter.
