Kristen Michaelis

Michaelis returns to the Lady Flames for the second year after a decorated playing career. She was an All-American (2003) and two-time all-conference player (2002, 2003) collegiately at Fresno State University where she played from 2001-2004.

Michaelis took a few years off after college before resuming her playing career with the U.S. National Team, helping them win the bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil as a libero.

Michaelis served as an assistant coach for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Prior to coaching the Mocs, she held a head coaching position at her high school back in Marysville, Mich., from 2011-2013. She led the team to the state final four in 2011. From there Michaelis was head coach at Saint Claire Community College (Mich.) for one year before heading south to Tennessee.

Coach Hudson’s comments: “The first year with Kristen was a great experience for both the coaching staff and the team," said Hudson. "Kristen Is such a natural when teaching the fundamentals of passing and defense and I feel she was key to us winning the inaugural Libero of the Year award this past year with MaKayla Beebe. Her competitive drive and skill knowledge continues to be of great importance to the program
