Lee goalkeeper Tom Halsall was awarded SSAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The freshman from Manchester, England was instrumental in guiding the Flames to two must win victories this past week, securing the eighth and final spot in the conference tournament.

In Wednesday's match against Truett-McConnell, Halsall recorded three saves and allowed just one goal in the Flames 4-1 victory.

Saturday's "win or go home" contest with No. 12 Southern Polytechnic State University saw Halsall register four saves to help preserve the 1-0 shutout.

Halsall is the first Lee men's soccer player to receive player of the week honors this year. His stellar play couldn't have come at a better time for the Flames as they kept their season alive.

In addition to the conference award, Halsall was also recognized nationally for his performance this past week as he was named NAIA National Defender of the Week. He is the first Lee athlete to receive the national award this season.
