Lauren Williams has been named Lee University's Female Athlete of the Week as the Lee volleyball team wrapped up the 2014 season with three-straight victories this past week.

The senior, middle blocker recorded 27 kills and 13 blocks in wins over Gulf South Conference opponents Alabama-Huntsville, Christian Brothers and Union.

Williams led the team with 247 kills and 77 blocks in 2014. The Brooklyn Park, Minn. native ended her four-year career with eight kills, including the match point on Saturday in Lee's 3-0 sweep of Union. Williams also set a school record for single-match hitting percentage (.941) in a 3-0 sweep of Mississippi College on Oct. 26.

"The players really wanted Lauren to get the match point tonight," noted head coach Andrea Hudson. "I'm so proud of seniors and everyone on the team for battling through adversity and injuries this year and overcoming those setbacks to finish on a positive note."

Williams and the Lady Flames finished the year with a 13-17 mark and were an even 10-10 in GSC play.
