Men's golfer Shea Sylvester has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after leading the Flames to a seventh place finish in the Las Vegas Desert Classic at the Paiute Golf Resort.

Sylvester tied with four other golfers for second place and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. The sophomore followed his opening round 70 on Sunday with a 74 on Monday for a 144 total.

As a team the Flames placed seventh in the field of 16 teams in a loaded field of NCAA Division I and II schools. 

"Shea played very well today with the conditions being so tough," said Lee coach John Maupin after the tournament. "Shea is coming off a freshman season in which he had a lot of success, and was a major contributor for our team." 

Sylvester and the Lee men's golf team will get right back to work on Mar. 9 as they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to take part in the Grover Page Classic.
