Justin Brooks has been named the Lee Univeristy Male Athlete of the Week after helping to guide the Flames to a second place finish at the UAH Chargers Invitational to kick off the Outdoor Track season. Lee were winners of six events with Justin Brooks and Harold Smith claiming two each.
Brooks set new meet records in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. His time of 10.75 bettered the mark of 11.08 set last year. The sophomore's time of 21.53 in the 200 meter was nearly 0.4 seconds faster than the previous record (21.91).
Host Alabama Huntsville tallied 193 points to win as a team. Lee posted 98 team points and Morehouse College was third with 73 points.
Brooks, native of Athens, Ga., will now step back on the indoor track as he met the 400 meter provisional standardwith a time of 47.86 earlier this year. Brooks will enter the preliminaries with the 15
th-quickest qualifying time.Â
The championships will be held March 9-11 in Birmingham, Ala. at the Birmingham CrossPlex, as part of the 2017 NCAA Division II National championships Festival. The championships will be streamed live onÂ

Brooks will run in the preliminaries of the 400 meter dash at 6:20 p.m. EST on Thursday (Mar. 9). The event final is scheduled for Saturday at 4:45 p.m. EST.Â
