Paula Martins has been named Lee University's Female Athlete of the Week after guiding the Lady Flames to a 3-1 mark in the Lee Invitational last weekend at Walker Arena.

The middle blocker from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil started the season with 16 kills, eight digs and three blocks in a 3-1 defeat to Bethel College (Ind.) in the opening match of the invitational.

Later that evening Martins and the Lady Flames bounced back to score a straight-set victory over Indiana Tech. The senior had 18 kills and a .567 attack percentage.

On Saturday Martins would register a pair of double-doubles to guide the Lady Flames to victories over Coastal Georgia (3-1) and Bryan (3-0) to wrap up the weekend. Martins had 17 Kills and 12 digs against the Mariners while recording 14 kills, 10 digs and three aces against the Lions.

The Lady Flames will enjoy the week off before they venture into Gulf South Conference play when they welcome West Alabama to Walker Arena on Friday Sept. 20th at 7 p.m.
