GREENVILLE, S.C.- Bernadette Little has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 16, 2013.
The Sophomore from Nova Scotia, Canada took home medalist honors at the Smokey Mountain Invitational last week topping Gulf South Conference foe Camila Sellivano from West Florida by two strokes. Little fired a 3-under 69 in the final round to go along with an opening round 73 to claim her first collegiate tournament victory.
"Bernadette played terrific today, and I couldn't be happier for her personally," said a pleased coach John Maupin. "She works so hard and has a great demeanor on the course. She put a lot of time in this summer, and it paid off big today. She earned this win. Against such a strong field she was going to have to play well, and she went out and made it happen. She joins a great group of previous Lady Flames medalists and I am excited for her."
Little helped guide the Lady Flames to a second-place finish in the tournament finishing four shots back of champion St. Leo. The Lee women's golf team will now set their sights to the Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C. The 36-hole tournament begins Monday, Sept. 28.
