BIMRINGHAM, Ala. - Thanks to a breakout career-high 33 kill performance to knock off Alabama Huntsville on Friday senior Silvia Sartori was named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday.
 
In addition to her dominating performance against the Chargers, Sartori added 18 slams and eight digs in a win over Shorter and eight kills and 11 digs in a loss to Montevallo.
 
Sartori is currently second in the GSC in kills (230) and kills per set (4.26).
 
"Silvia certainly had a phenomenal match against a great opponent in UAH. That match might have been one of the highlights of her career," said head coach Andrea Hudson. "She is a strong minded player that has really developed as a hitter and defensive player this year. Looking forward to watching her continue to grow this year."
 
With the strong play of Sartori the Lady Flames are off to a 4-1 start in conference play and have pulled their overall mark to 6-9 after a difficult non-conference schedule to start the year.
 
The Lady Flames will return home to Walker Arena for a GSC weekend series against Christian Brothers on Friday at 7 p.m. and Union on Saturday at 2 p.m.
