BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Taylor Green was announced as the Gulf South Conference Defender of the Week the conference office announced on Tuesday.
"I am happy for Taylor. She has been playing much better the past couple of weeks," said Head Coach Chris Hennessey.
The Lady Flames went 2-0 with Green in goal. The Ooltewah, Tenn. native faced twenty shots, seven on goal, and stopped all of them, averaging 3.50 saves per game. In 180 minutes of play Green pitched two perfect shutouts as the Lady Flames defeated Alabama Huntsville and West Alabama over the weekend.
Coach Hennessey was also quick to praise the team, "Although Taylor was singled out, I think this award is a collective effort from the keeper through our back four. They have been working hard and have been improving each game as a unit."
Green and her teammates are back in action on Thursday as they take on West Georgia at 5 p.m. and Saturday against Valdosta State 5 p.m. in two key GSC matchups this weekend.
