KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lee University's senior forward Mia Hollingsworth was named a United Soccer Coaches Association Third Team All-American the organization announced on Wednesday.
Hollingsworth led the Lady Flames and is 38
th nationally with 14 goals this season. She also dished off six assists and ranks 43
rd in the country in points with 34.
The four-year starter has been instrumental in Lee's incredible 2018 postseason run. Hollingsworth scored the game winning goal in overtime in Lee's upset of No. 2 West Florida in the second round of the NCAA National Tournament and tallied the all-important equalizer in the 73
rd minute of Lee's 2-1 South Region Championship win over Mississippi College.
"This is a great honor Mia and I'm glad she has been recognized as an All-American. Although the stats don't always show it, over the last four years she has been a very important player for the team and has made a significant contribution to its success since our first season as an NCAA II institution," said head coach Chris Hennessey. "I personally think this year she has taken her game to another level."
Lee fell to No. 1 Grand Valley State, 3-0 to end a magical season on Nov. 30 in the NCAA Final Four from Pittsburgh, Pa. Hollingsworth was named to the Final Four All-Tournament as she attempted a team-high four shots.
