Lee men's basketball freshman Quay Kennedy has been named the Lee University Male Athlete of the Week.
Due to an injury, Kennedy was thrust into the starting lineup during last week's road trip and made the most of his opportunity scoring 14 points on 4 of 9 shooting from 3-point land and grabbing five rebounds in Lee's 64-56 win at Montevallo.
Kennedy, a native of Columbia, Tenn., added 13 points and five boards in a 79-70 loss against the GSC's top team, West Alabama on Saturday.
"Quay has a knack for hitting big shots, the game is not too big for him, he rebounds well and is really good defender," noted Lee head coach Bubba Smith after Thursday's victory.
Kennedy and the Flames (12-11, 9-6) will travel to Alabama Huntsville on Thursday before returning home to take on Auburn-Montgomery on Saturday at 5 p.m. Lee is currently in seventh place in the GSC with five games remaining.
