BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After a stellar start against the No. 3 West Florida Argonauts, Lee pitcher Alex Butler was named the GSC Freshman of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday.

Butler, a three-time winner of the weekly honor, pitched 6.2 innings allowing just one earned run on six hits while striking out five to lead his club to a 5-2 victory and clinch as series win over the conference's top team. The Baylor School product is now 3-3 on the season for the Flames with a 4.73 ERA.

The Flames are now 4-1 in their last five games and are currently eighth in the conference 10-12 (21-22 overall) with just six games remaining in the regular season. Butler and the Flames will host Montevallo this weekend at Olympic Field in the last home series of the year beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
