Hunter Vest has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men's Golf Student Athlete of the Week after a stellar performance last week in the Skyhawk Classic at the Paris Landing State Park Course.

Vest took home medalist honors with a sizzling 12-under par 204 finishing two strokes ahead of UT-Martin's Tyler Guy. The senior from Cleveland, Tenn. put together rounds of 69-67-68 to take home his first individual collegiate title.

Vest's solid play anchored a Lee team that won the event shooting a school record 24-under par (840) in the 54-hole event to top the 16-team field comprised of nine NCAA Division I schools.

"Hunter played phenomenally this week," explained Maupin. "One of the few things missing from his resume was an individual victory, and he fixed that this week. I am very proud of a young man that has been so important to our program. It was a privilege to see him come through like he did today. I believe he set a new school record for individual total in the process."

Vest and the Flames will look to continue their fine play in the final tournament of the fall at the NCCAA National Championship. The 54-hole event is scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 21 in Panama City, Fla.
