Men's soccer player David Perez has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after an impressive showing in pool play at the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.

Perez delivered a goal and two assists in the Flames 4-0 blanking of Mid-America (Okla.) to open up pool play on Tuesday.

The freshman forward would add another assist in Lee's matchup with Fresno Pacific on Wednesday. Perez connected with Quade Marinell to put the Flames up 1-0 early in the second period. After giving up two goals to the Sunbirds the Flames rallied to score in the 89th minute to earn a 2-2 draw and secure a spot in the semifinals. The NCCAA doesn't use overtime periods in the pool play competition.

Perez, a native of Chicago, Ill. has really come on late in the year for the Flames scoring all three of his goals in the last five matches.

Lee is searching for its first National Championship title in Men's soccer.
