Women's basketball player Hollie German has been named Lee University's Female Athlete of the Week after guiding the Lady Flames to three consecutive victories to close out the pre-Christmas schedule.

The senior guard led the Lady Flames past NAIA-power Bethel (Tenn.), 81-76 last Saturday (Dec. 14) to wrap up a difficult road trip. German led the way with a game-high 35 points to go along with six assists. German was 12-of-20 from the field and 5-of-10 from 3-point land. The Benton native scored seven of her points in the final minute and a half to lead Lee to victory.

German followed that performance up with a 16 point output to lead the Lady Flames past West Florida, 58-53 in their Gulf South Conference Opener at Walker Arena last Monday (Dec. 16). German added four rebounds and two assists as the Lee women's basketball team registered its first ever NCAA Division II win.

Once again it was German leading the way as the Lady Flames closed out the 2013 portion of its schedule with a dominating 69-44 victory over GSC rival Valdosta State. German led all-scorers with 29 points and dished off five assists. The senior shot a sizzling 60 percent from behind the arc, canning six treys in 10 attempts.

German is averaging 25.9 ppg on 50.4 percent shooting from the field to start the year. Lee will open 2014 on the road on Jan. 4 when they head to Florence, Ala. to battle GSC foe North Alabama.
