Lee University senior guard Hollie German has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week.

German led the Lady Flames to a pair of Gulf South Conference (GSC) road victories over the past week. Lee defeated West Alabama 55-38 on Thursday before topping Alabama-Huntsville 91-80 on Saturday.

The Lady Flames overcame a poor shooting night overall (30.4 percent) in its victory over the Tigers thanks in large part to the performance of German. The Benton native hit 7-of-13 from behind the arc scoring a game-high 25 points in 32 minutes of action.

The All-American would once again make her presence felt on Saturday as she scored a career-best 38 points to lead the Lady Flames to its third-straight GSC road victory over the Chargers. German played the full 40 minutes hitting 9-of-17 from the field and 6-of-14 from 3-point distance. The senior did more than just score however, dishing off seven assists while pulling down five rebounds.

“Hollie is the best player in the league,” acknowledged coach Marty Rowe. “She is such a hard-worker and understands the importance her teammates in our overall success.”

German is averaging 25.9 ppg on 48.5 percent shooting from the field. The sharpshooter is hitting 45.1 percent from behind the arc as well. She currently sits at fifth-place on the all-time scoring list in Lee women’s basketball history with 1,955 points in her illustrious career. She is just five points behind Sarah (Habermas) Sausville (1,960) for No. 4 all-time.

German will look to lead Lee (10-4, 6-2) to its fourth straight conference victory on Thursday when they welcome West Georgia to Walker Arena. Opening tip is slated for 6 p.m.
