Derrick Pitts has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after helping guide the Flames to a perfect 5-0 mark in non-conference action this past week.

Pitts kicked things off with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate in Thursday's 19-3 game one thumping of Purdue-Calumet. The senior ripped his second home run of the season to go along with a pair of doubles and six RBI. All totaled Lee pounded out 26 runs on 22 hits in the doubleheader sweep of the Pergrines.

The Murray, Utah native continued to swing the stick throughout the weekend as he finished 11-for-17 with four doubles, one triple , one homer and 10 RBI.

Pitts showed his versatility during game two of Saturday's doubleheader with Tiffin University (Ohio). The hard-thowing lefty started on the mound and tossed five scoreless innings as the Flames blanked the Dragons, 1-0 to finish off the three-game sweep. Pitts struck out five and surrendered just two hits as he moved to 2-0 on the year.

Pitts and the Flames will remain out of conference for a single game on Wednesday (Mar. 19) at Bryan College. Lee returns to Gulf South Conference action on Saturday as they travel to Rome, Ga. to battle Shorter University in a three-game series.
