Flames' second baseman Andres Nelo has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after helping to guide the Flames to an even 2-2 mark for the week.

Nelo began the week with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI in the Flames' 17-2 thumping of crosstown rival Tennessee Temple on Tuesday. Nelo added a single to finish a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish.

The Maracay, Venezuela native added a double and a single on Saturday in Lee's 5-3 game one victory over Delta State in Cleveland, Miss. Nelo and the Flames avoided the sweep with the victory over the Statesmen while giving Coach Mark Brew is 400th career coaching victory, all coming as skipper of the Flames.

The junior has a .283 batting average on the year to go along with nine doubles and 24 RBI.

Nelo and the Flames will head to Greeneville, Tenn. to battle Tusculum College on Tuesday before welcoming the University of North Alabama to town for a weekend series beginning on Saturday at 1 p.m.
