Right-handed pitcher Jeremy Bales has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after helping to guide the Flames to a series clinching victory over North Alabama on Sunday afternoon.

The senior pitched 5 2/3 innings of relief and allowed just one unearned run on three hits to earn his third victory of the season and propel Lee to a 4-3 victory over the Lions. "Jeremy (Bales) was simply outstading for us in relief and kept us in the game until we could scratch out those runs late." noted head coach Mark Brew.

The Chattanooga native has been virtually unhittable out of the bullpen this season. Bales has a team-leading 0.28 ERA and has given up just one unearned run in 32 1/3 innings of work on the year.

Bales and the Flames will host cross-town rival Bryan College on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before embarking on the final road trip of the season as they visit Valdosta State for a three-game set beginning on Friday.
