GREENVILLE, S.C. - Lee women's soccer goalkeeper Marbel Egwuenu has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student Athlete of the Week.

Egwuenu was a brick wall in net for Lee (2-3-1) as they battled No. 5 Columbus State to a 0-0 draw last Wednesday. The Lagos, Nigeria native had eight saves in the contest to shut down the high-powered Cougar offense.

Egwuenu would come up big again on Sunday night as the Lady Flames opened up Gulf South Conference play with a 2-0 victory over North Alabama. The Lee keeper registered four more saves in keeping a clean sheet for the third time in six matches.

On the season the senior has allowed just seven goals in 560 minutes giving her a 1.13 goals against average. 

The Lee ladies will be back in action on Friday evening as they host conference rival West Georgia at 7 p.m. at the Lee Soccer Field. Egwuenu and the Lady Flames will turn around on Sunday and hit the road as they visit Valdosta State at 1 p.m.
