Volleyball Falls To North Alabama

Lions Snare Lady Flames, 3-0

FLORENCE, Ala. - Exacting some revenge for an earlier season loss the University of North Alabama defeated the Lee volleyball team 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-14) on Tuesday evening.

The Lady Flames (7-16, 4-9) jumped back into Gulf South Conference play after finishing 1-3 in the Florida Southern/South Region Crossover in Lakeland, Fla. last weekend.
Lee and the Lions finish the season with a series split. The Lady Flames topped UNA, 3-2 back in September on the sport court in Walker Arena.

Lee was led by seniors Latrice Johnson and Lauren Williams. Johnson registered six kills and 11 digs while Williams tallied six slams of her own. Haley Foote added 19 assists and Stephanie Hernandez led the team with 14 digs.

The Lions are 14-9 overall and move to 10-4 in conference play. Shorter continues to lead the GSC with a 12-1 mark. West Florida and Valdosta State file next in line, two-games back, at 10-3.

Senior Megan Gorey continued her solid season with a match-high 16 kills to pace the North Alabama attack. Lexie Bradley added 11 slams and Ashtyn Kapovich anchored the back line with 18 digs. Andrea De Leon set the offense in motion with 39 assists.

The young Lee squad will look to get back on track at home as they welcome conference opponent Mississippi College to Walker Arena on Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup. On Saturday the Lady Flames will battle West Alabama at 2 p.m.
