Lady Flames Finish 2-2 in Lee Invitational

The Lee volleyball team finished an even 2-2 in their annual Lee Invitational from Walker Arena after closing the tournament on Saturday evening with a 3-1 setback to Bryan College.

The Lady Flames now sit at 5-6 on the year and will prepare for a three-game Gulf South Conference road trip beginnning Tuesday at Alabama-Huntsville. The Lions (13-3) continued their winning ways finishing 4-0 on the weekend and have now won 12 straight matches.

Lee jumped out to an early 25-23 opening set victory over Bryan in the Saturday's nightcap. The Lions would respond however and win the next three sets (25-22, 25-27, 25-19) to hand the Lady Flames their second defeat of the weekend.

"We are still playing way too inconsistent and are way to up and down," noted head coach Andrea Hudson. "I still have hope that we will find that consistency this season but we have to be more focused each time out."

Senior Lauren Williams continued to lead the way for the Lady Flames with 13 kills and five blocks. The Brooklyn Park, Minn. native finished the invitational (four matches) with 42 slams.

Latrice Johnson and Erin Hill joined Williams in double-figures with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Hill would also dish off 14 assists. Sadie Johnson led the team with 24 assists while libero Stephanie Hernandez registered 21 digs.

The Lions featured a balance scoring attack led by Kara Stamper's 15 kills. Ashley Mattoch and Rachel Mosley chipped in 11 slams each and Meghan Lowry tallied 10. Taylor Fink set up the offense with a match-high 43 assists.

"It was obvious from the start that Bryan wanted this win more than we did," said Hudson. "We are a young team and we need to learn to play with more fire and determination."
