Lady Flames Sweep Past Trevecca

Volleyball Claims Fourth Straight Victory Tuesday

Picking up where it left off over the weekend, the Lee volleyball team claimed its fourth victory in a row in Tuesday night's 3-0 victory over Trevecca Nazarene at Walker Arena.

The Lady Flames finished their annual Lee Invitational with three straight victories over the weekend before hosting the Trojans. The victory moves Lee to 4-1 on the year while the loss drops the Nashville club to 4-6.

The Lady Flames opened things up with a 25-20 victory in set one. The two teams jostled back and forth in the critical second set. Trevecca reached set point 24-23 before the Lady Flames finished on a 4-1 run to take a 2-0 lead. The home team put things away with a 25-21 win in the final set.

"I thought we came out a little sluggish," said head coach Andrea Hudson. "We eventually got some energy in the first set and were able to get things going.

Silvia Sartori led the Lady Flames with 12 kills. The balanced Lee attack featured eight slams from Erin Hill while Catherine Conley, Brooke Wilsman and Emily Bento all added seven kills.

Sophomore Sadie Johnson set the offense up with 25 assists. Haley Foote and Hillary Hoffpauir shared time at the setter position and chipped in nine helpers apiece. Stephanie Hernandez led the team with 12 digs while Wilsman recorded 10.

"We have three very good setters," said Hudson. "We usually like to start with Sadie but all three played well tonight and they all cheer and pull for one another.

The Trojans were led by Katelyn Atkinson with 14 kills and 14 digs. Loren Bennett set up many of those kills with a match-high 27 assists. Alex Reuter and Hayden McCkay added six slams.

The Lady Flames will now head into Gulf South Conference (GSC) play. Lee opens things up at Alabama-Huntsville on Friday at 8 p.m. The Chargers are currently a perfect 9-0. On Saturday Lee will head up the road to Florence to tangle with North Alabama.

"UAH always proves to be a tough place to play," admitted Hudson. "The good thing is we have a lot of young players who haven't played there before so we are going to come in ready to go."

Hudson's club split its two matches with Alabama-Huntsville and North Alabama last season. The Lady Flames dropped both contests on the road.
