Volleyball Falls to Chargers

Lady Flames Road Trip Continues at UNA Saturday

 
 
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – After claiming four straight home victories the Lee volleyball team ran into an opponent on a 10-match win streak in Alabama-Huntsville. The Chargers extended that streak to 11 as they beat the Lady Flames, 3-0 on Friday evening.

Despite recording three more kills than the Chargers in set one the Lady Flames came up just short, falling 26-24. Lee held a 22-18 advantage late in the set before the home team went on a 8-2 run to close out the victory.

UAH was in complete control of set two winning 25-12 before finishing off set three with a 25-18 victory. As a team the Lady Flames posted a .195 hitting percentage while the Chargers hit a sizzling .351 for the match.

Lee falls to 4-2 (0-1 GSC) on the year and will travel to Florence to square off with North Alabama on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Chargers improve to a perfect 11-0 (2-0 GSC) to start the year for the first time since 1990 and will host Shorter University on Saturday.

Junior Catherine Conley led Lee with 11 slams. Sophomore Brooke Wilsman added 10 kills while junior Erin Hill and freshman Silvia Sartori chipped in six kills apeice. Blaire Beamer and Conley registered three blocks while Stephanie Hernandez had 12 digs. Sadie Johnson set things up with 30 assists.

The Chargers were paced by Anna Claire Johnson and Anna LeDuc with 11 kills each. Rachel Burgman added seven kills and four blocks. Kirsten Giles made her presence felt on both the offensive and defensive sides with 33 assists and 12 digs.
