The rugged Gulf South Conference continues to be an uphill climb for the Lee softball team as they dropped a pair of games in Saturday's doubleheader with West Georgia from a sun-filled Butler Field.
The Lady Flames (9-12, 2-9) will look to salvage the finale of the three-game set as they host the Wolves (15-7, 6-5) tomorrow at 2 p.m.
LEE 2 UWG 5 Lexie Dean hit her first career home run to tie things at 2-2 in the first inning but the Wolves would use a three-run fifth frame to take the night cap, 5-2 over Lee.
Danielle Easterly (5-2) worked six innings for West Georgia and allowed just four hits and two runs (one earned). She walked three and struck out four. Megan Roberts came on to slam the door in the seventh for her first save of the season.
Leadoff hitter Amanda Lynn continued to get on base as she finished with two hits and scored on the Dean two-run homer. Lynn is currently hitting .461 and leads the team with 22 runs scored.
Senior Angie Hughes got the call for the Lady Flames in the circle. Hughes was steady for the first four innings, giving up just two runs.  She ran into trouble in the fifth however as Summer Wallace drilled a two-run single up the middle and Jordan Corbin doubled home Wallace to give the Wolves a three-run cushion.
Freshman Madyson Stallcup came on in relief and tossed the final 2 2/3 innings allowing just one walk.
Kathryn Woody got the Wolves on the board with a two-run single in the first inning.
Dean's home run gives her the team lead in RBI (22), batting average (.467) and slugging percentage (.600).
LEE 3 UWG 12 Lee committed five errors leading to seven unearned runs in falling to West Georgia, 12-3 in game one.
The Wolves put up five runs in the fifth inning and retired the Lady Flames in the bottom of the frame to claim the run-rule victory.
