MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Hanah Rotello scored a team-high two goals as the Lee University women's lacrosse team lost 20-4 Saturday afternoon at the University of Montevallo. The Lady Flames fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the Gulf South Conference. Montevallo improved to 3-3 (1-3 GSC).
Jayne Renfro put Lee on the scoreboard with 19:21 left in the first half. The goal made the score 5-1 and was assisted by Brianne Schapira.
Lee would strike two more times before the break. Rotello recorded an unassisted goal with 10:32 remaining and Schapira converted a free position shot to make the score 9-3 with 5:10 left.
Montevallo tallied another goal less than two minutes later to hold a 10-3 lead at the end of the first 30 minutes.
The Falcons started the second half with seven straight goals to push their lead to 16-3. Rotello ended the streak with her second goal of the game and fourth of the season with another unassisted goal. Montevallo tagged on four more goals in the final 22 minutes to supply the final margin.
The Lady Flames will return home on Wednesday to face Lincoln Memorial University on the South Quad Field. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
