The Lee University lacrosse team played its first game in 10 days and first game on Lee's South Quad Field since opening day (Feb. 11) Tuesday afternoon and were handed a 22-0 loss by Shorter University. The Lady Flames fell to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the Gulf South Conference and Shorter improved to 6-3, 2-2 GSC.
The Lady Hawks entered the contest with the individual leaders of all three of the main offensive statistical categories. Morgan LeBlanc was tied for the league lead with 25 goals. Shelby Beverly was tops in assists (17) and total points (40). LeBlanc added three goals to her season total, while Beverly did not play.
Morgan Perrone led the Hawks with five goals and two assists. McKinley Puckett and Crystal Marshall each tallied four goals. Marshall also recorded four assists.
The Hawks fired off 34 shots with 28 on goal. Lee put three of its five shots on frame.
Catherine Mitchner recorded two saves in 49 minutes to earn the win. Mitchner is the GSC leader in goals against average (8.36), saves percentage (.547) and saves per game (9.67).
The Lady Flames return to action on Monday (Mar. 20) against Lincoln Memorial University. The non-conference affair is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start at the South Quad Field.
