Softball Splits Twin Bill With West Georgia

Beatenbough Shutouts Wolves in Game One



CARROLLTON, Ga. -  Leigh Beatenbough tossed a complete game seven-hit shutout to lead the Lee softball team past West Georgia, 6-0 in game one of Saturday's Gulf South Conference doubleheader.

The Wolves bounced back in game two with a 9-1 run-rule victory to set up Sunday's rubber match at  1 p.m.

The Lady Flames are now 14-6 and 5-3 in league play. The Wolves are now 10-9 and 3-5 on the year.

Abby McKinney delivered the offense for the Lady Flames. The freshman from Ringgold blasted a three-run homer to get Lee out to the early advantage in the first inning. McKinney finished with three hits in the contest. Stevie Baird doubled, scored and drove in a run while Kayla Louie had two RBI. Annabeth Pruett added two hits.

Raven Smith doubled for the only extra base hit for the Wolves in game one. Kathryn Woody (4-4) pitched five innings and gave up five runs on nine hits.

GAME TWO - LEE 1, UWG 9
Raven Smith was a perfect 3 for 3 and drove four runs to lead the Wolves past the Lady Flames in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader. Wallace doubled and drove in two.

Jefferson (3-2) kept the Lee bats off-balanced as she worked all five innings and allowed one run on six hits to earn the victory. Stowers set the table for the West Georgia offense as she scored three runs.

Brooklyn Fraizer provided the lone offense for the Lady Flames as she launched a home run in the fourth inning. The Chattanooga native leads the team with three home runs and 21 RBI on the year.

McKinney (5-2) was tagged with the loss. She worked a 4.2 innings and allowed nine runs on nine hits.
