Flames Win Five Events At UAH Invitational

Place Second Out Of Seven Teams

Justin and Josiah Brooks were the top two finishers in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lee University men's track & field team finished second out of seven teams at the UAH Chargers Invitational. The Flames were winners of six events with Justin Brooks and Harold Smith claiming two each.

Host Alabama Huntsville tallied 193 points to win as a team. Lee posted 98 team points and Morehouse College was third with 73 points.

Brooks set new meet records in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. His time of 10.75 bettered the mark of 11.08 set last year. The sophomore's time of 21.53 in the 200 meter was nearly 0.4 seconds faster than the previous record (21.91).

Josiah Brooks was a close second in both events with a time of 10.77 in the 100 meter and 21.86 in the 200 meter. His triple jump of 14.31 meters was the top mark in the event.

Smith was the top finisher in the 800 meter (1:56.22) and 1500 meter (3:59.99) runs. Brandon Raleigh placed third both events with times of 1:58.32 and 4:03.89. Alex Carter was fourth (1:58.59) in the 800 meter and 12th (4:11.76) in the 1500. Jared Herzog was seventh (2:00.58) in the 800 and eighth (4:06.56) in the 1500. Moises Ponce posted a time of 2:02.44 to finish 12th in the 800 and was 10th (4:08.81) in the 1500. James Guthrie was 20th in the 1500 with a time of 4:24.09.

Christian Noble breezed to a first-place finish in the 5000 meter run. His time of 14:46.19 was 14 seconds faster than his nearest competitor. Seth Eagleson finished third at 15:06.41. Thomas Kelton was seventh (15:52.10) and Tucker Hindle was ninth (15:58.62).

Chase Warren finished seventh with a distance of 21.95 meters in the discus throw. Warren was joined by Stephen Wilson and Matthew Wilson in the shot put and placed 10th with a throw of 9.71 meters. Stephen was 11th (9.46 meters) and Matthew was 12th (8.22 meters).

While the rest of the Flames have a weekend off before returning to competition at the Emory Invitational on Mar. 17-18, Justin Brooks will be competing at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships in the 400 meter dash.
