Flames 3rd, Lady Flames 4th at Berry

RESULTS

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Lee University Track & Field Teams participated in the Berry Field Day Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Flames used 10 top-five finishes, including three winners, to place fourth out of 17 teams and the Flames recorded 14 top-five performances, seven first-place, for third out of 16.

The Lady Flames tallied 90 points to finish just behind Montevallo (93). Emory was the women's winner at 167 and West Georgia was second (115). Host Berry College was the men's winner with 127.5 points. Emory was second at 121.5 and the Flames amassed 118 points.

"This was a work meet for our teams," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "We held some of our top athletes out of their primary events. The next two weeks are very important for our team."

This coming weekend, the teams will travel to Torrance, Calif., for the Mt. SAC Relays. The event is set for Murdock Stadium on the campus of El Camino College. The following weekend, Lee heads to Rome, Ga., for the Gulf South Conference Championships.

"We had some very solid performances out of the weekend," added Morgan. "(Seth) Eagleson ran a great solo effort in the 10k. He is in a great place moving into the final weeks of the season."

Eagleson covered the 10000-meter distance in a time of 31:09.34 and crossed the line first. Tucker Hindle was third in the race at 32:42.07.

Josiah Brooks collected two first-place finishes. He won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.41 and won the triple jump with a distance of 15.15 meters. He finished second in the 400-meter dash (48.34) and in the long jump (6.85 meters).

Justin Brooks was first in the 400-meter dash (48.18), second in the 200-meter dash (21.52) and fifth in the long jump (6.23 meters).

The duo joined Harold Smith and Brandon Raleigh to win the 4x400-meter relay. The foursome posted a time of 9:51.88 to win by over a second.

Smith was the top finisher in the 800-meter run with a mark of 1:53.12. Moises Ponce was 16th (2:00.20), Raleigh placed 17th (2:00.38) and Alex Carter was 28th (2:04.28).
Carter, Raleigh, Smith and Ponce also challenged the 1500-meter run where Christian Noble crossed in first place at 3:55.28. Carter was sixth (4:06.50), Raleigh 10th (4:08.46), Smith 19th (4:12.85) and Ponce 20th (4:13.56). James Guthrie stopped the clock at 4:23.75 for 37th.

Thomas Kelton was third in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He recorded a time of 9:51.88. Stephen Wilson was ninth (9.79 meters) in the shot put. Chase Warren finished fourth in the discus throw with a toss of 32.19 meters. Matthew Wilson placed 13th (21.12 meters) in the discus throw and 11th (35.62 meters) in the javelin throw.

Adrian Martin led the Lady Flames with two individual wins and another in the 4x400-meter relay. Martin won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.03 and 24.25, respectively. The senior joined Cayce Bryan, Lacey Duvall and Jessica Childers to win the 4x400-meter relay by over five seconds.

Childers and Duvall also placed in the top four of the 800-meter run. Childers was second (2:14.56) and Duvall was fourth (2:19.68), while Charlee Boxall was fifth (2:20.18).

Boxall added a second-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:48.54. Audrey Smith was sixth (4:51.54) and Madison Hodges finished 16th (5:20.52). Kiley Brock was sixth (12.64) in the 100-meter dash and eighth (25.81) in the 200-meter dash.

Smith was ninth (18:24.35) in the 5000-meter run with Amy Carpenter right behind at 10th (18:24.56). Logan Hernandez was 16th (18:57.56) and Lily Fell was 32nd (19:56.55). Blakely Moore (12:04.61) was sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase and Becca Umbarger was seventh (12:23.11).

Jordan Allison was eighth (17.33) in the 100-meter hurdles and 19th (4.39 meters) in the long jump. Hannah Buttolph was second in the high jump with a height of 1.61 meters and was 10th (10.15 meters) in the triple jump.

Camilla Sims finished in the top six of the shot put, discus throw and hammer throw. She was third (34.53 meters) in the discus, fourth (11.56 meters) in the shot put and sixth (36.92 meters) in the hammer. Alexis Stevens placed 11th (29.49 meters) in the discus throw and ninth (23.61 meters) in the javelin throw.
