BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following an indoor season where the Flames and Lady Flames both won GSC Indoor Track & Field Championships, the two squads claimed five of the eight GSC Indoor Track & Field Yearly Awards. Pierre Chauveau was announced as the men's Field Athlete of the Year, while Liz Lannom was the women's Field Athlete of the Year and Aria Hawkins the women's Track Athlete of the Year. Head coach Caleb Morgan was named the men's and women's Coach of the Year.
Chauveau was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer at the GSC Championships. He competed in the Mile and 3000, won both of his events and is ranked 32
nd overall in the Mile.
Lannom was named the Most Outstanding Overall Performer at the GSC Indoor Championships where she competed in the pentathlon and high jump. In doing so, she placed second overall in the pentathlon and is ranked 24
th in the nation. She would go on to place fourth in the high jump. Lannom was also the event champion in the 60-meter hurdles and the 60-meter dash.
Hawkins was the Most Outstanding Track Performer at the GSC Championships. She competed in multiple events including the 800, mile, 3000, and 5000. She placed first in all four of her events.
Morgan led the Flames to their fourth GSC Indoor Track & Field Championship and the Lady Flames to their seventh consecutive title.
The GSC also officially released its list of All-Conference teams. First Team All-GSC honors went to those that placed first in an event, while Second Team All-GSC was reserved for those that finished second in an event. The Flames garnered seven first team recognitions and five on the second team. The Lady Flames had nine first team performers and seven on the second team.
