KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Lee University Track & Field teams participated in the Tennessee Challenge a Tom Black Track on Saturday. It was scheduled as the teams' final event for qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championship.

"The conditions weren't ideal today for fast running," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "It was around 49 degrees and many of the teams left after the rain started."
Harold Smith had the top finish for Lee. The junior finished first in the 800-meter run with a mark of 1:50.85. Christian Noble and Seth Eagleson joined Smith in the race. Noble was 15th (2:01.15) and Eagleson was 16th (2:01.24).

"Harold had a great race against a very competitive field," said Morgan. "His finishing speed is right where we want it to be as we approach nationals."

Noble added a second-place finish in the 1500-meter run. He covered the distance in 3:58.65.

"Amy (Carpenter) and Becca (Umbarger) both ran personal bests in the 3K," added Morgan. "This is a great way for them to end a fantastic season."

Carpenter finished second with a time of 10:32.43 and Umbarger crossed the finish line at 10:45.56 (fourth).

Jessica Childers, Charlee Boxall and Audrey Smith competed in the 800-meter run. Childers finished third with a time of 2:14.13. Boxall was eighth (2:25.24) and Smith was ninth (2:26.06). Boxall also finished seventh in the 1500-meter run with a mark of 4:53.52.

Jordan Allison was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.47. Hannah Buttolph joined six others in a tie for first with a height of 1.55 meters in the high jump.

Smith and Umbarger placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Smith posted a time of 10:56.81, while Umbarger stopped the clock at 12:03.40.
