Lady Flames Breeze Past Visiting Choctaws

After a rugged five-set battle to get past visiting West Alabama on Friday evening, the Lee volleyball team returned to the Walker Arena sport court on Saturday afternoon and breezed past the visitors from Mississippi College (Clinton, Miss.) in three sets (25-13, 25-10, 25-16).

Friday's win helped coach Andrea Hudson reach another milestone (her 800th win). The veteran coach admitted she was a little surprised with the sharpness of her club on Saturday. "I was a little concerned about our girls after the hard-fought win over West Alabama, but we responded and had several players step up. I'm encouraged by the depth we showed in today's win."

Kristi Farley joined Matthews in the assist department as the senior ventured all over the surface to come up with 15 assists and five digs.

No Choctaw had more than three kills in the loss. Sydney Chandler led the assists with 11 and Madison Kimes picked up seven digs. The Lady Flames limited the visitors to only two blocks.

After a venture to Alabama Huntsville on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. GSC battle, the Lady Flames, who are now 10-3 overall and 4-2 in the Gulf South Conference, will return to Walker Arena next Saturday and host rival Shorter University in a key GSC match scheduled for a 1 p.m. first serve.
