ATLANTA – The Lee University Women's Basketball team extended its winning streak to four with a 66-53 defeat of Clark Atlanta University Tuesday evening. The Lady Flames improved to 4-1, while their hosts fell to 0-5.
The Lady Flames placed three players in double-digit scoring with Lindsey Roddy leading the way. Roddy was 5-for-14 from the field and 6-for-6 at the free throw line on her way to 16 points. The junior also grabbed five rebounds to go with two assists and two steals.
Abby Bertram made 7-of-11 shots and finished with 15 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists. Haley Schubert threw in 11 markers to go with three boards.
Halle Hughes and Nicky Widenski supplied seven points each. Becca Cheeks recorded four points, while Taylor Boggess and Kayla Tillie rounded out the scoring with three points apiece.
Cheeks grabbed 10 rebounds to help Lee win the battle of the boards. The Lady Flames recorded 42 rebounds against 32 by Clark Atlanta. I'Nayah Moore, Reagan Jackson and Jalisa Jones tallied six boards each for the Lady Panthers.
Nailah-Mawusi Mitchell led the Clark Atlanta offense with 16 points. Jackson added 11 points in the loss. Reyana Miller dished out a game-high four assists and five steals.
Lee was 26-for-61 (.426) from the floor and made 6-of-19 (.316) from behind the arc. Clark Atlanta was 22-for-58 (.379) overall and were 6-for-21 (.286) from distance. The Lady Flames held a slight advantage at the free throw line where they made 8-of-15 charity shots to 3-of-6 by the Lady Panthers.
"Our focus and decision making needs to improve on both ends of the court," said Lee head coach Marty Rowe. "We've still got a lot to improve on and we'll be anxious to get started after Thanksgiving break."
The Lady Flames will take a little time off over the Thanksgiving break before turning their attention to Auburn Montgomery. Lee travels to Montgomery, Ala., on November 29 for the Gulf South Conference opener at 7 p.m. EST.
