The National Team Computer Rankings are compiled by a mathematical formula based on the NCAA Division II Descending Order Lists. Past collegiate data is used to determine preseason rankings in NCAA Division II. Subsequent rankings use only season-best, qualifying-list information from the new season.
The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the race for a national title. Ranking points don't equate with points that will be scored at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The next rankings will be released on January 22. From that point, the rankings will be updated weekly with the final rankings scheduled to be released following the conclusion of the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 9.
