Â
"The girls played extremely well today. Point is a good team who moves the ball well on the attack. Our defensive unit was put to the test this afternoon and did a great job working together to shut down their drives," said head coach Addie Wadley.
Â
Wadley was also pleased with the explosive offense her team showed today. "Our attack had a lot of great opportunities and came out strong. They moved the ball well and were able to get a lot of shots off. Point's goalie made several phenomenal saves, making us work hard for every goal."
Â
The scoring got started quickly as just 57 seconds into the game Schapira connected for the first goal of the year for Lee to make the score 1-0.
Â
Point would answer back three minutes later with Jarrett recording her third goal of the year off an assist from Beardsley to notch it at one all.
Â
Cobb and Hill would then scored a minute apart from each other at 10:10 and 9:10 to give Coach Wadley's squad the 3-1 lead that Lee would never relinquish.
Â
The Skyhawks would cut the margin to one at 3-2 as Beardsley scored her seventh goal of the year a few moments later
Â
The Lady Flames would then go on to score eight unanswered over 17 minutes of play to put the contest out of reach. Dillon would record all three of her goals during the stretch, with Broadwick throw in two goals, and Perrigo, Duda, and Mercuri all connected to stretch the lead to 11-2.
Mercuri would add the icing on the cake for Lee as she scored with 59 seconds remaining in the game to make it 14-6.
Â
"This win was a great way to start the season," said head coach Addie Wadley. "It was exciting to see the girls hard work reflected on the scoreboard. We're taking the night to celebrate the team's first official win, but we will be back at it tomorrow as we prepare to face Erskine on Saturday."
Â
After claiming the programs first win the Lady Flames now focus on Saturday as they take on Erskine at 3 p.m. Lee then opens up Gulf South Conference play on Feb. 21 at Alabama-Huntsville at 4 p.m. to wrap up the three-game road trip.
