HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - After securing the first two wins in program history the Lee lacrosse team suffered its first setback of the year losing to Alabama Huntsville, 26-7 in its Gulf South Conference opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman Mason Cobb led the way for the Lady Flames with a four goals in the contest. Brianne Schapira, Kaylyn Dillon and Madeline Perrigo also found the back of the net.Â
Alana Carvalho tallied six goals and Karissa Glover added four to help the Chargers improve to 2-1 on the year and 1-1 in the GSC. The loss drops Lee to 2-1 and 0-1 in league play.
The Chargers jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first 18 minutes and never look back as they stayed on the attack, out shooting the Lady Flames 43-13. Lee, currently leading the GSC in ground balls, turned in 13 while UAH registered 18.Â
Abby Sanders recorded seven saves in goal for the Lady Flames while Leslie Allen Brown stopped six would-be goals for the home team.
The Lady Flames will host their home opener on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. as they welcome Lees-McRae to town for a non-conference showdown.
