YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Lee women's lacrosse team fell to Young Harris College 21-10 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in the Georgia Mountains.
Lee was paced by Kaylyn Dillon and Becca Broadwick with three goals apiece. Mason Cobb had two, and Brianne Schapria and Emma Hill rounded out the scoring.
The Lady Flames (3-2, 0-2 GSC) fell behind quickly 2-0 just under four minutes into the game but fought back with goals from Broadwick, Cobb, and Dillon to take a 3-2 lead with 21:53 left in the first half.
The Mountain Lions scored three straight to take a 5-3 before the Lady Flames answered once more as the same trio would score again to take a 6-5 lead with 7:37 remaining in the half.
Young Harris (4-0, 4-0 GSC) would seize control for good as it went on a 5-0 run to end the half and eventually scored eight unanswered to take a commanding 13-7 lead that they would never relinquish.
The Lady Flames defense didn't have an answer for Kendra Parenteau as she led the home team with eight goals in the contest. Julie Darroch earned the win in goal for Young Harris. Abby Sanders was tagged with the loss in net for Lee and recorded six saves.
The Mountain Lions out shot Lee, 34-20 overall and 27-19 in shots on goal. Both teams committed 26 turnovers. The Lady Flames struggled to clear the ball as they were just 13 of 23 while Young Harris was an efficient 20 of 24.
