Track & Field Earns Seven All-America Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the full list of All-America honors for the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field season. Lee University's Justin Brooks, Josiah Brooks, Audrey Smith and Emily Buwalda combined for three First-Team and four Second-Team selections.

Justin led the way with two First-Team nods in the 200 and 400-meter dashes. He was fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 400. Josiah placed sixth in the 200 to add a third First-Team performance to the Lee tally. He earned a spot on the Second-Team with an 11th-place finish in the triple jump.

Smith earned Second-Team All-America accolades in the 3000-meter steeplechase and the 5000-meter run. She was 11th in the 5000 and 12th in the steeplechase. Buwalda added another Second-Team selection by crossing in 11th in the 800-meter run.

Student-athletes earned First-Team USTFCCCA All-America status by finishing among the top eight in their events, including as a member of a relay team, at this past weekend's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Second-team honors went to those finishing ninth through 12th.

A total of 260 men claimed 311 All-America honors (217 First Team, 94 Second Team) from 89 different institutions. On the women's side, 234 different women earned 309 All-America honors (220 First Team, 89 Second Team) from 89 different institutions.
